Selecting the best
Technology Partner
OPEC Systems Pty Ltd conducted an extensive market search for a technology business partner that could support their digital transformation that would continue to support the diverse and emerging areas of the business, including manufacturing. Eventually selecting Dynamic Aspect.
Specifically designed for OPEC, the Dynamic Aspect delivered solution is built on Microsoft's Dynamics 365 Business Central platform, powering successful field service teams, designed and developed in response to the growing market demand for creating a constant, timely and 'always-on' customer experience while scaling businesses to claim more market share.
The Microsoft based solution features tighter integration between systems and optimisation of processes, sales, marketing, collaboration, fast creation of satellite offices/on-boarding contactors and managing a mobile workforce.
Hosted on Azure, the cloud/SaaS solution drives innovation for the clients who need to lower their costs of sales and operations, increase their use of analytics, and utilise digital platforms.
Familiar tools such as Microsoft Office, coupled with a platform like Dynamics 365 Business Central, Tulip Interfaces (the Gartner Challenger in Manufacturing Execution Systems), Continia Software (Document Capture and Expense Management) and Jet Reports, have unlocked process changes and efficiencies in optimising the sales force and the field service operation.
Training requirements are minimised, and device choices are maximised, providing a flexible and consistent experience for everyone. These tools also provide the platform for future changes including PowerApps, IoT and SharePoint for document management.
OPEC needed to get full control of their new and emerging manufacturing processes and an emerging provider was identified even before their recent recognition by Gartner as a Challenger in this space.
Dynamic Aspect has deployed the Tulip Manufacturing Execution System (MES) - fully integrated with Dynamics Business Central – to deliver Work instructions, Barcoding, Control Manufacturing Equipment, and Real-time data about consumption/output.
Added innovation, complexity and significance of this product include:
Visual Production and Project planning – being able to see and resolve all the constraints and bottlenecks on a Gantt chart.
Track R&D costs and make sure the client does not exceed the budget.
Managing product documentation in an integrated environment that provides an overview of the product sales, cost and more.
Optimising warehouse operations by streamlining functionalities like count, pick, shipping, receive, and more using mobile devices.
Transacting in foreign currencies when working with international partners.
Fully automate the processes of overseas branches following local legislations.
DYNAMIC ASPECT
What are TOP benefits of the solution?
The client did not have a Manufacturing system, but also with the growth in the business and the additional business lines meant the client was looking to streamline and consolidate their operations. This was to improve productivity, build in automation, reduce manual processes, and improve business intelligence with improved reporting.
What evidence is available to reinforce the success of solving the business problem?
The project was delivered on time, and on budget. The success of the project is that OPEC is now positioned, and proceeding to, dramatically scale the business internationally having moved onto a modern, automated manufacturing platform, without the need to add any more staff in a very tight labour market. The order of magnitude of scaling up is in the order of 10x versus the legacy solution used.
The entire process previously involved time-consuming and organisationally demanding agendas and operations, during which employees must assess and manage large volumes of complex data. Using this solution, all these agendas are not only be done in electronic form, but all automated reducing the occurrence or errors and delays.
By keeping headcount and associated overheads low, they can also keep their costs to a minimum to support their clients' initiatives and compete in a global marketplace.

The RESULT
As a solutions-orientated environmental engineering company, OPEC is always looking to improve our systems and streamline the way we operate and maintain high levels of productivity. We identified that working with Dynamic Aspect, and deploying the collective technologies of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, Tulip Interfaces, Insightsoftware (Jet Reports) and Continia would deliver the real outcomes we were seeking. Whilst innovative, complex and significant for both our domestic and international operations, we were impressed with the timeliness, agility and success of a deployment delivering value for money and return on investment.
